Ban 'appalled' by Gaza's damage
Even though the article is about how outrageous the attacks in Gaza were, war terms are still used to soften he blow of their meaning to the people reading the article. Phrases such as “destroyed by Israeli shells” and “bomb-damaged northern suburbs” do not fully explain the extent of the destruction that was carried out and are much less blunt than simply saying the places were bombed as though trying to cover up the significance of the occurrences. Also, saying things such as “targets of Palestinian rocket attacks” seems to give the impression that the places that were targeted were just simply that, targets, instead of towns inhabited by civilians. The article also uses terms such as “indiscriminate weapons” instead of stating clearly just how carelessly weapons were used in the attacks as though to lessen the impact of the idea on the readers of the article.

Midterm Presentations
As A Class
What Went Well: The Topics chosen were interesting and diverse. Topics were presented in many different and unique ways. Presenters stayed on topic and within the time limit.
What Could Have Gone Better: Presenters did not always have a completely clear understanding of their topics and the importance they had to the knowledge issues. Presenters displayed some bias to arguments in their projects. Presenters were not always organized in their projects.
As An Individual
What Went Well: I had an interesting and relevant topic. I showed all perspectives of the issue. My presentation was organized and within the time limit.

The theory of explaining the idea behind a word by attempting to define it. A triangle is a shape with three straight lines connected at three points.

The theory of explaining the idea behind a word by attempting to use other words to describe it. France is a country.
4. Image Theory
The theory of associating a word with an image that comes to mind when the word is thought of. Freedom is an eagle.
Problems with Language

Describing something but not really pinning down exactly what it is. It was fast.

Having two or more meanings. She can’t bear children.
